Vasantham Central projects the voice of the Indian community in Singapore. Vasantham means “spring” in Tamil.Vasantham Central’s unique blend of innovative, informational and entertaining programming across genres appeals to both local and international markets for Indian programming.With 29 hours of programming each week, Vasantham Central is the local Indian community’s source of prime time news, information and entertainment. It is also the largest free-to-air broadcaster catering to the Indian community outside India.
With the strategic goal of nurturing Vasantham Central into a global brand name, our programmes have attained regional and international acclaim in recent years. Ie. Best Drama Performance by an Actor Award at Asian Television Awards 2007, Children's Day Telemovie Special ‘Matchstick’ was awarded the Certificate of Distinction at the New York Festivals in 2004.
We are also determined to build a perennial link with the Indian community by conducting regular ground events in Little India, acting workshops and outdoor programme launches.
Come October 2008, Vasantham will become an independent channel with 65 hours of transmission per week.
